Daal Butter Rice

Daal Butter Rice

Hello! 👋 This special recipe is by my younger sister a.k.a Zoha's dearest khala! ❤️

If you guys didn't already know Zoha has a cousin who's the same age as hers so we're often sharing BLW recipes with each other that can help us during mealtime.

Her recipe involves making this recipe on the pan; while I prefer the quicker cooking method of microwaving instead 😁

So, in this blog I will be sharing both the cooking methods; you can opt for whichever method is feasible for you!

Worried, your baby will make a mess with the rice? Check out on my blog for some motivation to let them make a mess!

However, there is another addition to this recipe. I made the butter rice for Zoha but also added some homemade mash ki daal that I made for the adult's dinner!

Lastly, this recipe is a great side dish for the dinner plate - for adults, toddlers, and babies!

Anyways....

Without further ado, let's dive into the recipe! 👩🏻‍🍳

INGREDIENTS:

- 1/2 cup boiled rice

- 1 tbsp. butter (any kind you like)

- 1 tsp. ginger garlic paste (optional)

METHOD 1: MICROWAVE

STEP 1:

Grab a microwave safe plate; please don't use plastic crockery unless it's made for the microwave.

STEP 2:

Put the butter in the plate and microwave it on high for 30 seconds (add 3o seconds more if need be but not more).

STEP 3:

Once the butter is fully melted, put the rice and daal on the plate, and mix till well combined.

STEP 4:

Serve to your baby! I have some amazing ideas on how to serve this side dish!

METHOD 2: STOVE TOP

STEP 1:

Grab a frying pan and start melting the butter in it. Make sure the heat is medium-low.

STEP 2:

Once the butter is fully melted, add garlic ginger paste (optional) for extra flavor.

STEP 3:

When the garlic ginger paste becomes fragrant; add the rice and toss around till it's well-combined.

STEP 4:

Serve to your baby! I have some amazing ideas on how to serve this side dish!

HOW CAN I SERVE THE BUTTER RICE?

OPTION 1:

Steam up some chicken or cook some nuggets; chop it up and add it to the plate next to the butter rice. You can even mix it in.

OPTION 2:

Boil or grill some chicken sausages, make a mince out of it, and mix it in the butter rice.

OPTION 3:

You can add an egg and 1/2 cup breadcrumbs, mix it all up, form rice balls, and fry them a bit till the egg is well-cooked.

OPTION 4:

In the recipe I mixed in mash ki daal; you can use any kind of daal to serve the rice.
